Description about Homer in Assyrian.jpg

“Homer and the Wooden Horse of Troy”

 by Rabi Youarash Haido

This book, which is in modern Assyrian language, is an abridged and adapted translation of one of Greek’s literary masterpieces: The Iliad by Homer. Rabi Youarash Haido is one of the most learned Assyrian authors in classic and vernacular Assyrian, and has worked extensively on ridding the modern Assyrian language of foreign words and expressions by borrowing from the classic Assyrian language. This book will hopefully be enjoyed by those Assyrians who are not able to read the original story in other languages and more so by students who wish to learn the more correct sentence structures and powerful Assyrian words that can express feelings that up until now have been conveyed with non-Assyrian words.  "The Rays of Literature"

"Simkhe d'Siprayouta"

By Assyrian Authors

The two issues of this free biannual online Journal are published in book format once a year on www.lulu.com. This magazine is devoted to the publication of the literary works of the Assyrian writers and poets of the 21st century, uniquely in Assyrian, in order to promote and preserve this ancient language, which is one of the oldest living languages. The objective is to provide a platform for the publication of the works of the modern Assyrian authors and poets, who do not have a chance to make their articles read or heard; to promote the Assyrian modern literature for the benefit of the general public, and be a source to quench the thirst for modern, different and varied literary works. The esteemed writers are invited to send their poems and prose to: simkhesip@gmail.com

The articles are published in alphabetical order of the names of authors in their original version without any change or editing. The authors are entirely responsible for the contents and opinions expressed as well as for the possible grammatical or spelling errors in their works.

The online journal can be found at: http://mdlndavis.wix.com/simkhe
